Club member Steve Gardner, with his son Kyle, is taking part in the world's longest yacht race (40,000 miles over 11 months) as a crew member on the 68ft racing yacht ‘Welcome to Yorkshire’, which left the UK last August.

Steve joined the crew in South Africa for the third leg, across the Southern Ocean to Western Australia and stayed on board for the two races of the 4th leg, from Australia to New Zealand’s North Island and then back to the east coast of Australia. Steve has left the boat for a rest but will rejoin the crew for the 4 races of the final leg from New York to Europe later in the year.
