Membership
The main season has now finished and we are no longer accepting new applications for our Introductory Courses. Taster Sessions will will start again in Spring 2012. If you download a Taster Application Form and return it now, you will be put on a waiting list and contacted in March or April with the date of the first Taster Session. Alternatively, you can keep visiting our Home page, where the date of the first Taster Session will be posted as soon as it has been decided. Membership of Lincoln Canoe Club is open to anyone who can swim at least 50 metres in light clothing, but those under the age of 8 years must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Beginners and 'Improvers' will only be able to paddle at prearranged supervised sessions. For 'Competent' (BCU Two Star level) and experienced members, the Club meets for general canoeing and training each Monday and Wednesday evening during the summer and on Sunday morning all year round. |

If you wish to join Lincoln Canoe Club you must first fill in an Application Form and pay a Joining Fee, currently £20 for adults, £15 under 18 or £40 for a whole family. If you have acceptable canoeing experience or a qualification, such as the BCU Two Star Award, you may then paddle for four weeks but must then pay the Annual Fee. A Club Coach will assess the competency of anyone without a formal qualification. If you have not canoed before, you must attend a "Taster Session". Here you will be given basic instruction in the use of a buoyancy aid and paddle, and shown how to launch and paddle a canoe or kayak and disembark safely. All necessary equipment will be provided, but you may use your own if you prefer, and you will need a change of clothing. Annual Fees are: £95 senior, £75 Junior (under 18). Family Membership is £150 for the first two, plus £25 for each additional member. In addition, all members are required to raise, during each year, a further amount, as determined by the Committee. Fund raising activities, eg raffles are organised by the Committee, but, if the required sum is not raised, the shortfall will be added to the following year’s Fees. |
